Axolotl

2025
Charcoal on paper
91 x 122 cm

This piece was developed from a “disagreeable object” I found, a small axolotl toy. I transformed it into a larger work by deconstructing its parts, dividing them into zones, and rendering each shape more regular and complete. Through this process, I abstracted the overall form, creating a visual exploration of a single object. The work also serves as a personal exercise in abstract and surrealist art, reflecting my own interpretation of these styles.

While I’ve always been drawn to abstraction, this was my first time using such a clean, structured, and orderly approach. The process challenged my patience and attention to detail, ultimately resulting in a piece that I found both rewarding and conceptually engaging.
